ckck: This is the original, unmanipulated negative of Philippe Halsman’s iconic photo Dalí Atomicus (1948). In this version you can see the hands of the person holding up the chair and the strings that held up the easel and painting. The most notable difference is that the original didn’t have the painting in the easel. It was added in later, presumably to enhance the surreal nature of the photo as the easel’s shadow remains empty in all versions of the photo. It took Halsman and Dalí 28 takes to get the shot.
